All right....if you're gonna be spending a lot of time with the family this holiday season, you might need some...social lubrication to make it more tolerable. Am I right? What is your GO TO holiday cocktail? Featured in the photo above is a little concotion we made to keep warm last winter...apple cider and Goldschlager. Pour out some of the cider for the kids, and refill with your desired amount of that or even Fireball cinnamon whiskey, Apple Pucker or whatever you want - Captain Morgan might even be good. Just mark them aprpropriately in the fridge. *wink*
One I want to try over Thanksgiving is Mulled Wine. I've heard some people talk about it around the office and I think it'd be a great altermative to plain wine off the grocery store shelf. Here are a few recipes I looked up that I might meld togeteher to suit the family's tastes. HERE. and HERE.
If we run out of cider and wine...and still have to hang out with in-laws or crazy toddlers, the easy way out is just hitting up a speciality beer store and grabbing some festive holiday beers. If I'm back home in Ohio, I'm running for the Great Lakes Brewery Christmas Ale....but if I'm not where they sell it, I'm all about the 12 Dogs of Christmas Ale. But make it even more special.....Get a pint glass, carefully rim the top with honey and then have a saucer of cinammon sugar and top the honey with that...THEN pour. It makes those spicier holiday beers all that much for fun to enjoy.
Most importantly, whatever you imbibe, be careful out there this weekend and through New Years. Get a cab or a DD! Happy (drinking) Holidays!
Ohio State's Marching Band tackled the Gettysburg Address this weekend.....INSANE!!
